The first Ibanez Artcore models were released by Hoshino Gakki in mid-2002 to try to create an affordable hollowbody guitar range that appealed to guitarists who were unable or unwilling to pay big money on high-priced guitars. The Artcore series has developed a reputation for being one of the best value guitars on the market and has been praised by reviewers, and are highly respected for their tone, sustain and the way they appreciate.
My 1983 Ibanez AM205 is a Japanese manufactured 2 pickup (Ibanez Super 58 humbuckers), double cutaway, 22 fret, semi-hollow body electric guitar with burled/quilted mahogany top and back, 24 3/4 inch scale, bone nut, gold hardware (including Velve Tune sealed tuning keys, Quick Change II tailpiece, and Gibraltar bridge), 2 volume and 2 tone controls. The body is about the same size and shape as the Ibanez Artist solid body models (roughly the size of a Les Paul). It is much smaller and easier to handle than a Gibson ES 335 and much lighter than the Artist solid bodies of its era. I played this axe in the Croutons while in college.
On stage these days you will often see my 57 Black Beauty along side my 58 WH Les Paul. I had to own one.. Custom Shop 1957 Reissue Black Beauty . I saw Peter Frampton play his, Jimmy Page play his and had to have one. The one I picked up on Ebay used is a superb 2004 Les Paul custom three pickup version with V.O.S., 2 pup - paf gold burstbuckers 1&2, 7-ply binding on body, binded frets, fat 50's neck, tulip tuners, bumblebee capacitors, gold Bigsby tremolo tailpiece, aged laquer finish w/ patina, rectangle pearl inlays, solid mahogany body, carved mahogany top.
After over 30 years of playing, this is, by far, the finest guitar I have ever owned or played. I'm not sure what is better - how it looks or how it sounds.
I have to say custom shop guitars are really a different class from the typical factory produced models and this one is a class above that. It has a huge sound which is fat but still manages to have great projection and cuts through beautifully. Downside.. It weighs almost 10 pounds

Jeff Beck and Warren Haynes are two of the most amazing guitarists I have ever seen play live. Jeff Beck leads the British Invasion beginning with his varied solo career and right up to today, Jeff Beck's Stratocaster has been an integral part of his signature sound. This early version custom shop signature axe features a soft C-shaped neck, locking tuners, roller ball bridge, a phase switch and a contoured heel for easier access to the higher registers. Further, it's "Wired" with Gold Lace Sensor dual-coil ceramic Noiseless"! pickups and straight-ahead five-way switching. Mine is a Sea Foam Green mid 90's version.
This guitar is used primary as my live acoustic guitar.
It's initial design was a collaboration of master guitar builder Yairi and Jerry Garcia. Before the instrument could be finished Jerry passed. A decade later Warren Haynes was asked to finish the design and a limited number of G2YE guitars were produced. I acquired mine through the good people at St Louis Music and debuted it at the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater Dedication in 2005. The built in tuner and preamp/EQ section works great and the guitar has a full rich tone. Love it!
